What it is

A low-carbon nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy steel made for carburising. After case-hardening it has a hard, wear-resistant surface over a tough core.

Typical uses

Gears, pinions, camshafts, king pins, ring gears and other carburised wear parts.

Machining notes

Machine before carburising; machinability is similar to other low-carbon alloy steels. Finish-grind critical surfaces after hardening.
